For so long I was lost and lonely
filledwith sadness and despair
locked  inside of myself from everybody else
and believing that nobody cared.
But then You came along
and now I'm singing this song
cuz there's something that I've just got to say
about my gratitude
and my new attitude
and the love I feel growing each day.

And I want to thank You God
for the burdens that You bear
      from my heart
I want to thank You God
for giving me a brand new start
     in my life.

Well I was walking alone in darkness
paralyzed with fear and shame
feeling hopeless and forgotten
I really thought I was going insane.
But then You came to me
And now I'm able to see
that You were right there from the start
waiting patiently
watching over me
standing by to win a place in my heart.

for the courage that You give me each day

for the love and the joy that I feel

for the wounds are beginning to heal.
