I'm walking down this path deep inside my soul
I'm going back in time there's so much I need to know
I'm trying to remember the details of my past
So I can put them all to rest and feel whole, at last.

These pictures come and go like flashes in the dark
They don't seem very real at least not from the start
But when they come together all at once it's clear
The image of my little girl filled with pain and fear.

At times I have these feelings, with no pictures at all
The pain is so severe but there seems to be a wall
It protects me from the vision until a later time
When I am in a safer place to know what's in my mind.

When suddenly they become one, the flashes and the pain
It's in that priceless moment of truth I know I'm not insane
And all the fears from all those years come crashing down at once
And I am free at last , you see because it now makes sense.

This journey of remembering never seems to end
And even though I hate this, I know I'm not alone
The healing will continue through memories as they come
And God will give me courage, to face them, one by one.
