Sitting in the dark, all alone and scared
I had no one to talk to, it felt like no one cared.
I couldn't understand, what was done to me
I only knew it felt, like I was ugly.

It seemed like forever, like it would never end
But then one day I realized, I did have a friend
She came to me and said, "I'll help to set you free,
Just put your hand in mine, and come along with me".

We walked down many roads, that led to all of the places
Where I could see and feel, the memory of their faces.
At times, it hurt so bad, I'd let go of her hand,
And run back to my hole, and sink into the sand.

But every single time, she would come and find me
And gently pull me up, and say "You can trust me"
She seemed to understand, how bad I hurt inside
She said she would protect me, I no longer had to hide.

And after all this time, of running up and down
I finally see the light, I thought could not be found
It's breaking through the dark, just like the moon at night
It's right there at the edge, this shining, shiny light.

This tunnel seemed so long, when I was all alone
But now I have her hand, to take me to my home

But now I  have her hand, and I'm ready , yes I'm ready
to come home.
