Judie's notes on Rest In Me...
This is a very significant song that describes a turning point in my healing journey. I always had this part of me I referred to as "the sergeant" that was my tough, rigid, warrior that came out to protect me whenever anything in life threatened my integrity. It served me well for many years to ward off the pain and shame from the abuse but now was interfering with my ability to build trusting relationships. This song was the result of an assignment I was given by my therapist to write a letter to my sergeant asking her to let go of her armor, and allow the adult in me to be in charge.

Rest In Me lyrics
Come rest in me you don't have to do anything for me just rest in me I can see by your eyes that you're very tired so fly up high and float among the clouds and put your trust in me.
You've worked so hard for so long and now it's time to come on home take your armor off and put it down place your hand in mine and walk away to a place you've never been before where there's love and hope and something more there's a place for you to simply rest in me.
Come rest in me you don't have to do anything for me just rest in me I can see by your eyes that you're very tired so fly up high and float among the clouds and put your trust in me.
I love you for all that you've done you saved our life by being strong but now it's time to come on home leave your armor off and walk away to a place you've never been before where there's peace and joy and something more there's a place for you to simply rest in me
So come with me you don't have to be anything for me and soon you'll see the pain will be done and you will be free to fly up high and play among the clouds so come and rest in me please put your trust in me just simply rest in me.
